The Roland and Schlegel, P.C. attorneys have been serving the needs of the elderly population in Berks County for more than twenty-five years. Although providing many of the same services under the term "estate planning", legal services for the elderly became known as Elder Law approximately fifteen years ago.
Elder Law encompasses the providing of legal services to meet the needs of the elderly community including, but not limited to, traditional estate planning such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Guardianships, and Living Wills; Tax Planning, often relating to retirement; Social Security and pension issues; medical insurance issues relating to Medicare, Medigap Insurance and Long Term Care Insurance; and especially Long Term Care Planning for nursing home admissions, often known as Medicaid Planning.
The area of Nursing Home/Medicaid Planning has become a critical area of law due to the ever-increasing number of senior citizens in Berks County and the rapidly increasing cost of Long Term Care. Due to the complexity of this area, it is critical that an attorney concentrate in this area in order to develop necessary expertise.
